Frequently asked questions about wine tastings

How does a wine tasting at Republika Wina work?
The tasting takes place in the intimate atmosphere of our wine bar in Warsaw. It is led by a certified sommelier who talks about the wines, wine regions and the principles of professional tasting. Participants try carefully selected wines, learn to assess them by colour, aroma and taste, and discover food pairing techniques. There is always time for questions and discussion.
How many wines will I try at a single tasting?
Typically, a guided tasting features 4 to 6 different wines, depending on the theme of the event. Each wine is discussed in detail by the sommelier. For private groups we can adjust the number of wines to suit individual preferences and the duration of the event.
Do I need prior experience with wine?
Absolutely not! Our tastings are tailored to all levels of knowledge. Whether you're a complete beginner or an experienced wine lover, the sommelier will adapt the presentation to the group. We'll make wine culture feel accessible and natural for everyone.
What tasting themes are available?
We organise thematic tastings covering a wide range of regions and wine styles: classic regions such as Bordeaux, Burgundy and Tuscany, wines from the New World, and increasingly popular Polish wines. We also run tastings dedicated to specific grape varieties, production methods and food pairing. For private groups we can create a bespoke programme tailored to your interests.
How many people can attend a tasting?
We have three spaces: a private tasting room (14–20 people), the main wine bar area (25–50 people) and a garden terrace (16 seats). We'll match the right space to the nature of your event and the size of your group.
Is food served during the tasting?
Yes — we serve carefully chosen snacks that complement the character of the wines being tasted. We also teach the art of food pairing — matching dishes to specific wine styles.
How long does a wine tasting last?
A standard guided tasting lasts approximately 1.5 to 2 hours — the ideal length to enjoy the wines, explore their stories and ask questions without feeling rushed.
Can I organise a private tasting for my company?
Absolutely! Wine tastings are a fantastic idea for team building, business meetings or corporate events. We'll prepare a dedicated programme tailored to the size of your group, the participants' level of knowledge and the goals of the event.
Who leads the tastings at Republika Wina?
Our tastings are led by certified sommeliers and wine educators. We are an official branch of the London-based WSET school and the American Wine Scholar Guild, which guarantees the highest standard of expertise and professionalism.
Will I receive a certificate after the tasting?
Standard guided tastings do not end with a certificate — they are educational and social events. If you're looking for a formal qualification, we invite you to our professional WSET or Wine Scholar Guild sommelier courses.
Can I buy a wine tasting voucher as a gift?
Yes — we offer elegant gift vouchers for tastings at Republika Wina. Vouchers can be ordered online or collected in person at our wine bar at ul. Skorupki 5.
